Krabi is a small town located on the west coast of Thailand on the Phangnga Bay. It is an important tourist hub for Thailand holidays, mainly due to the fact that it is surrounded by a number of beautiful national parks, as well as being the starting point for those that want to explore the many small islands close to the coast. These islands are perfect for those that enjoy sailing, and the water is full of things to explore for keen divers.
Although Krabi is only a small town, it does have its own airport – Krabi Airport. This is in fact an international airport that serves a small amount of different flights from around the world, although none of these cheap flights to Krabi come from Australia. The easiest way for an Australian to fly to this town is to get cheap flights to Bangkok and then change to a plane heading here. As tourism increases though, expect there to be more routes added.
Due to its relative distance from Bangkok, most people do not choose to take the overland route to this destination. However, this provides a great way to see the country and buses going here generally take about 10 hours – usually at night. They are also a lot cheaper than planes, which makes them perfect for those traveling on a tight budget. It is also worth noting that there are no train connections from anywhere in the country to Krabi.
