Outside of Bangkok, Koh Samui is the number one tourist destination for people visiting Thailand. With resplendent beaches, great nightlife and surrounded by lush tropical lands, it is the perfect place for people to go who want to experience a bit of everything that Thailand has to offer. Due to this popularity, loads of Koh Samui accommodation has sprung up in the area, ranging from budget hostels to high-end hotels.
Of all the places to stay in Koh Samui, perhaps the most luxurious is Bann Maliwan, which is a complex of villas located in a tropical landscape. These villas have huge bedrooms, their own balcony and private swimming pool, as well as being located near to many of the local attractions.
For a more reasonable price, there is the Ark Bar Beach Resort. This hotel has a number of rooms and is located right on the beach, with stunning views of the sea and surrounding coastline. The bedrooms are all furnished to a high standard and come with free internet, as well as use of a shared pool. The hotel also has room service and a great Thai and European restaurant.
For those on a budget, a number of hostels are also available – although these usually only offer basic accommodation. One of the best is the I-Bed Hostel, which is on the beach and offers either shared or single rooms, as well as a place to relax and meet other travelers in the area.
For a luxury hotel, one will expect to pay around $200 AUD in Koh Samui, although more standard hotels average out at about $30 AUD. Hostels can be stayed in for as little as $7 AUD.
