Koh Chang is one of the largest islands in Thailand and home to some of the best scenery in the whole country. For this reason it has become an incredibly popular tourist destination for Australians, all of whom want to experience the majesty of the mountains and the beauty of the white sandy beaches. Due to the amount of tourism, a number of good hostels and hotels have sprung up making Koh Chang accommodation amongst the cheapest in Thailand.
One of the most popular hostels on the island is called the Ice Beach and is situated just 200 meters from the beach in the area. Unusually for a hostel, the rooms are actually situated in a number of wooden huts laid out over the grounds – something that many people find hugely appealing. All of the rooms have a double bed, plus a fan and a shared bathroom. Although the accommodation is simple, they do offer some of the nicest and cheapest meals on the island in their restaurant.
Hotels on the island are also widespread, with many offering a complete package for the tourist. Most have swimming pools and other luxuries – such as gyms and saunas – although this obviously depends on the quality of the hotel and therefore how much they charge. Most hotels will also have a reasonably priced restaurant within the building, as well as facilities to care for children.
Hostels catering to Koh Chang holidays are among the cheapest in the whole country, with many being available for just $2 AUD per night. Hotels are more expensive, although a room can still cost as little as $15 AUD.
