Maps of Bangkok, Thailand

Maps of the vast capital city of Thailand mark its streets, motorways, the river and landmarks. The terrain of the city and surrounding area is flat because Bangkok is located in a river delta plain. A copy of a detailed map of Bangkok is useful to visitors as they travel the metropolis.

Geographic Features of Bangkok, Thailand’s Landscape

Beaches – Not far from Bangkok are found clean sandy beaches on the Gulf of Thailand.

Delta Plain – Above sea level, the city rises only 2 metres so flooding is a problem. A low part of the sloping plain, rivers and streams are draining the area to empty into the gulf.

Gulf of Thailand – Thailand reaches around this body of water, a part of the South China Sea. The immense gulf covers about 320,000 square kilometres of space.

Inner City Waterways – The city has a canal system as well as the Chao Phraya River running through it. Beginning where the Nan and Ping Rivers come together, Chao Phraya is a major river in the country. The mouth of the river empties into the gulf on the south side of Bangkok.

Vegetation – The climate is perfect for the many flowers and fruit trees alive inside the city. Rainforests are found in rural areas around Bangkok.
